From the outside, this hotel doesn't look like much, but the location was perfect for us (show at the Albert-Rousseau theatre), and the bedroom we received was modern, ultra spacious and right next to the pool (or should I say the really nice tropical environment where the pool/spa are located). The staff at reception was also very polite and accommodating. The only important downside (not specific to Universal) is a new tendency in the hotel industry to stop "making the room" every day. This should be mentioned in the description/advertisement as it will influence my choice of hotel. If this service is not available (due to the shortage of staff, I was told), it should be reflected in the price, or another service (free breakfast?) should be added.

Hotel was very old not good maintenanced. I got the last minutes reserved. The price was really high for that bad service . I wish i had enough time to choose better hotel however access to other places was very easy from the hotel.

While we were comfortable, there were definitely areas that could be improved quite easily. The walls are in desperate need of a wash, there was a fair bit of dirt on each one. That being said, the more important spaces were clean such as the bed. We loved how much space was in our room. However, it seemed like there was no effort put into soundproofing the area. Our room was by the pool area and we could hear people’s conversations word for word in our room, even though they were speaking at a respectful volume. Check in and out was very nice and easy! The shampoo in the shower was completely empty. Overall, medium stay

My only complaint is that check-in is slow. There were two guys behind the counter, and they seemed to be in no rush, doing thing at a leisurely pace, even though there's a long line of people waiting to check in.
