Lovely!
The atmosphere and staff make the Berkeley a wonderful getaway. It was quiet, room service was friendly, prompt, and the food delicious! The shower had great water preasure and the water gets hot and stays hot. This is definitely a location I plan to visit again.

My 1st trip to Richmond
I enjoyed my stay. I was in the city for vcu orientation with my son. My recommendation for the future if there’s way to change the amenities in the bathroom like bar soap. Also you need to act immediately to change the shower curtain liner to plastic. The shower head spray water out of the tub. The floor very smooth and water on it means very dangerous. All staff and wander full

The valets were quick to respond and the front desk personnel were very nice. They hotel seemed very old, which I'm sure it us. What bothered us was there was a band-aid covering the peep hole on the door to the room.

We stayed only one night but we’re very happy with the hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were outstanding and made our stay even better. Shout out to Alfreda who checked us in with a smile and made sure we had everything we needed.

Not a big fan of this hotel. Room stayed warm- AC goes down to 68, but was not cool enough. Beds are cheap and uncomfortable. No gym and no partnership with a local gym. No refrigerator in the room!

Great location, but kind of disappointing overall. Room was okay, but tired and some stuff didn't work (lamp, tv remote, room drapes). Room service was awful. Food was cold, poorly prepared, and served with cheap plastic cutlery. The knife broke while trying to cut a burger in half. The prosciutto on the pizza was way too thick and very tough. The hotel security leaves something to be desired also. The doors are supposed to be locked at 12 pm and the front desk staffed with a person. At 11:45 pm when I returned to the property, the door was still unlocked and no one was at the front desk. Honestly, i expected better for the room rate I paid

I'll start with the service because that was great. Front desk and valet/bellhop were friendly and courteous each time I ran into them. Got checked in 3 hours early which is always a welcome perk. Housekeeping was also very warm and kind. Where this hotel falls short are the conditions. I paid $310 for a room that had cobwebs, stains on the lampshade, stains on the carpet, a dirty terrace, and mattresses that need to be changed because you literally sink into them and not in a good way. The room is extremely dated with peeling wallpaper in the bathroom and no mini fridge. In no way can this be classified as a 4 star hotel. I get that it has historical value and that can be maintained even with some updates. There are much better hotels downtown for a better price unless you want a terrace. That is where The Berkeley is unique.
