Things to do at night in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh isn't quite a "city that never sleeps," but if you're a night owl wanting to go to bed late, there's plenty of after-dark fun in Pittsburgh to keep you occupied.

Want to enjoy beautiful views of the bridges lit up and Pittsburgh's skyline looking like something out of a Batman movie? Wait until the evening, when the city transforms into a thriving night-time entertainment area.   It's not all bars and clubs either (though those are certainly readily available for you to explore). From late night events at some of Pittsburgh's best museums to dance classes, you can easily find unique things to do in Pittsburgh at night.

There are also family activities to take part in once the sun sets. Go on an educational tour, hit up a museum after normal hours or scream through the darkness on a rollercoaster.   Here's a checklist of Pittsburgh night-time activities to help you plan your evening.

Family Attractions

  • Stare up at the stars at SkyWatch Evenings held by the Carnegie Science Center Observatory on select nights. Anyone out there?
  • Get a Kennywood Night Rider ticket to experience this amusement park with less people and more thrills. Who doesn't love funnel cake before bed?
  • Ready for a family-friendly bowling competition? Some bowling alleys, like Arsenal Lanes, have late night events and karaoke.

Bars & Clubs

  • Indulge in cocktails, beers and wine at Latitude 40. Laugh (or groan) along with comedy show nights held on the weekends.
  • Luckily the only funny business going on at Voodoo Brewery is trivia nights, where you can drink craft beers and test your knowledge.
  • Head to City Works for a full menu of American pub grub and an even more expansive drinks menu.

Views

  • One of the most relaxing things to do in Pittsburgh at night is to take the Duquesne Incline all the way to the top. From there, the city unfolds beneath you.
  • For a beautiful night-time view of the Pittsburgh skyline and the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, head to the West End Overlook.
  • See the illuminated fountain in Point State Park and take pictures of passing night-time boats from this popular Pittsburgh landmark.
