The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum, also known as The Discovery, is a vast space where children and families can explore and learn together in a fun and highly educational way. Experience the interactive exhibits and look on in wonder as the secrets of the world are related in a fascinating and informative way.
While the site originally opened as a children’s museum, it has transformed over the years into a center for science, technology, engineering, art and math appealing to all ages. Today visit all nine permanent exhibitions in the museum. Set off to explore the hugely varied range of fun and informative exhibits that these magical rooms hold.
Discover how our bodies work, grow, age and heal at the area called Inside Out: an Anatomy Experience or find out how science and art combined in the hands of Leonardo da Vinci at Da Vinci’s Corner. Climb the 45-foot (14-meter) Cloud Climber, fire a catapult or use alternative energy to light the Reno Arch.
Learn about local history in the Nevada Stories exhibit, where kids can dig for artifacts, load a wagon train and explore a mine. Even the very youngest children can have their minds and senses stimulated in the Little Discoveries section. Bring babies here to let them roll around safely and crawl, feel, touch and build while you relax.
In addition to the wealth of permanent exhibits, get children involved with the many lectures, seminars, workshops and seasonal camps offered by the museum. Watch their imaginations grow. The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum is located in downtown Reno. Access it easily by public transportation from almost anywhere in the city. Take advantage of the free parking lot for visitors or use the metered on-street parking. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, and Mondays in summer, and has a general entry fee as well as individually priced activity costs.
