Savanah has a great public transportation system in the form of the Chatham Area Transit buses and River Street Streetcars. Having your own wheels is great for getting outside the main city. If you have the chance to walk around the old squares, don't pass it up.
We often advise steering clear of high season, but in Savannah, high season is actually, well, the high point of the year. Running from March through July, this peak tourist period does see the destination fill up with vacationers, it's true. But visit just before the summer gets under way and you can enjoy fabulous weather and a calendar jam-packed with fun events. Some center on food, so make sure you come hungry.
