San Jose offers something for everyone, whether you prefer warmer or cooler weather. July through September is warmest, with maximums reaching a balmy 80 degrees-perfect for getting that California glow. Beat the crowds, and still get your suntan, if you visit during May, June or October, when rains are still at a minimum. If you love the cold, visit between December and February, when night-time minimums reach as low as 40 degrees.
Two of the best ways to see the city are on foot or by bicycle, so bring walking shoes and bike shorts if you're that way inclined. If you'd prefer to be a little more relaxed while sightseeing, there is always the light rail or bus service, and the DASH-the Downtown Area Shuttle-which is free and runs from 6:30a.m. until 9:15p.m. Monday to Friday.
