My stay at the Best Western Ocean Sands Beach Resort was overall an average experience with a few highlights and a few lows. My best highlight is the staff, they were very helpful and nice, our first room that we checked into did not have a working a/c, the staff called a repair-man to fix it, but even after that the a/c still didn't work, so the staff put us in a new room. The lows I had include the first room with the a/c being broken(it was 80° F outside, and it was hotter in our room with the a/c at 62° F for six hours), and my second low is the amount of rust on everything, the handles on the dressers and night stands were all rusted, the luggage stand was completely rusted shut so we couldn't use that, and the ironing table also had a fair amount of rust on it. A few other highlights include the pool and the bar, those were some nice amenities to enjoy. Also during our stay the laundry was out of service.

Worst stay ever
I booked what I thought was going to be a fun and exciting stay right before the new school year. Instead, it was one disappointment after another. It started with finding out I was booked into an annex building--four buildings down from the main hotel. The room, although spacious, was in serious need of a deep clean, cosmetic and other major repairs. Towels and sheets were clean, but stained. The air conditioner made such loud noises, that it woke me up and kept me awake. I either had to turn it off or turn it to its lowest setting so that it didn't cycle, which meant sleeping in sweatpants/shirts and waking up congested. The door led right outside, and is in need of new dirt/dust draft protectors. The wind blew so much sand and dirt under the door, I had to wipe my feet off before getting into bed. The sink stopper and faucet were clearly not meant to work together. There was barely an inch of space from the downspout and the back wall of the sink, making it very difficult to wash your hands. The sink stopper was not connected underneath, so you couldn't collect water in the sink to wash your hands that way. As for the pool area, I specifically chose this hotel because I was meeting family with 10-16 yr old nieces and nephews. The pools and lazy river were only 3-4 ft deep, meant for kids 8 and under, clearly misadvertised. To end on a good note, the staff at the check-in desk were very kind and polite, as were the women running the breakfast area.

Our stay was okay overall. We were unhappy to find our fold-out bed still dirty from the last guests, and the staff's response to it felt rather indifferent. It wasn’t a huge deal though. Their breakfast offered a decent variety, but the food quality was on the lower end. Honestly, the whole breakfast experience felt chaotic, with no clear direction for the traffic, and staff unnecessarily serving half the food instead of it just being self-serve like everything else. Perhaps it's a cost-saving measure, but it made the process feel inefficient. On a brighter note, the pools and lazy river were great, and the kids had a blast. We did wish our room had been higher up for a better ocean view; instead, we mostly saw the tiki bar. However, the two complimentary drink coupons were a nice perk. The beach was absolutely stunning and easily the highlight of our stay—the best part of the hotel by far. Just keep in mind that most non-ocean activities require a bit of a drive further south.

Second year there. Reasonable property with acceptable price. Included breakfast with good selection both hot and cold foods. It meets our family's needs. The location is good with easy driving to most popular attractions. We like it because it is quieter and not as crazy as being in Myrtle.

The pictures are outdated when we got to our room there was limited parking had to park across the street with a three-year-old and one year-old. Door was coming off the hinges. The only good thing about this was the free breakfast in the morning and when you walked out, your door was at beach access. We woke up the last day to flying ants/ all kinds of bugs infesting the entire room so glad that happened to us while we were leaving and not during our stay. Bathroom was not like in pictures no sliding glass door for the shower, just one piece of glass and the rest open. water got everywhere. The toilet was the size of a pediatrician office toilet for toddlers. The whole bathroom was the size of a cubicle not like as in the pictures. Totally not worth the $1000 stray

This had to be the worst hotel I’ve stayed in to date. The property looked like it was from the 1960s or a scene from Breaking Bad. The lamp shade had so much rust on it I took it to the front desk to be replaced. The stove was rusted, toilet worked periodically. The chairs had no cushion , when you sat on it you hit the wood. The staff were kind and were hard workers but the owner has barely invested in maintenance. We ended our stay early and finished our vacation at the Homewood Suites Hilton.
