We have stayed at the property previously about 8 years previous and have always stayed with Marriott hotels in general and been very happy, so I thought it was safe to stay here again. Unfortunately, the only thing good about this property now was the staff who worked with us and went above and beyond to try to make things better. The first room was not what I booked and upgraded to. We were switched to the correct room eventually only to discover that in the bathroom was a sewage exhaust that was uncapped and leaking sewage gasses into the room. The next morning we were switched into another room only to wake in the middle of the night to our room flooded with brown and black water. Our stuff was saturated with this nasty water but we were lucky that we have hard sided suitcases that blocked the water from our most important items. Every night there was racing up and down the streets in front of the hotel making it unsafe to try to go somewhere in the evenings. One evening there was even a sideshow with drag racing and burnout shows and a police chase. The rooms are far from soundproof for such an event and a good nights sleep was impossible. The staff truly was the only good thing about this hotel. It’s not their fault the owner isn’t maintaining the place.
