Monterey Stay
We had an enjoyable nights stay. Keep in mind there is no AC. But the living room and bedroom did have ceiling fans, and the room had two extra box fans. The room also had a kitchenette, with microwave and stovetop burners. But did not offer any plates, pots, cooking utensils or silverware. Which is odd if you’re gonna have a kitchenette. Also, there was no patio furniture.

I enjoyed the split bedrooms. We struggled with the shower water knob. It was either too hot or cold. The bathroom vent was not working. No AC. Thankfully it wasn't too warm. There was only one regular coffee.

Couldn’t find anywhere reasonable in Carmel to headed here. It was ok. Tired and in need of a bit of love but fairly good value compared to the area. No worse than the other options and ample parking. Our patio was a fenced in slab of concrete with no view.

We stayed at Scottish Fairway Inn during Monterey Car Week. It was great to find any rooms available in Seaside at all! That being said, every property of course upcharges because of the demand, so we paid about $500 for 1 night in a double queen room. PROS: The property is in a great location, about 10 minutes drive to Cannery Row. The surrounding area seemed safe, and the property is in good condition. Slightly outdated but well kept. The beds were comfortable and most importantly, the room was CLEAN. Staff was friendly and we got checked in quickly. If I needed a budget motel in a pinch, I would stay here again. CONS: Given that it was Monterey Car Week, I understand the room rates and we were happy to pay for the convenience and overall stay. However, to pay $500 for a room without air conditioner or a heater, in my opinion, was not great. It was about 72 degrees in Monterey that day, which is pretty warm for that area. Our room had no AC (or heater). It did have a ceiling fan, and the property provided a box fan which was appreciated. The only other option was to sleep with the windows wide open, but since we were on the first floor and it’s a motel with external hallways, we opted out. It also is a pretty busy Main Street, so there is street noise. Between the hot room and the noise it wasn’t the most comfortable night of sleep. Overall, it was a good stay for 1 night for just needing a place to shower and sleep.

We did not know how to turn the water from the tub to the shower. It was different than we had seen before and no instructions in the bathroom. Also, they said there would be coffee at 8 o’clock in the office. I’m waiting till 815 and the door still was not open.
