Breathtaking views from the iconic Montserrat Monasetry mountain, followed by a tradtional farmouse lunch, and ending with a unique wine tour and tasting in a small family owned organic winery.
8.30am - Your day starts from our central office opposite the famous Palau de la Música where you will meet your guide. You will quickly leave the city behind as you head out into the Catalan countryside.
9.00am-9.30am - The journey to Montserrat takes just over an hour. Long before you begin the drive up the monastery, the unmistakable outline of the mountain apprears in the distance. Once we arrive, your guide will lead you on a guided tour, explaining all about the legends, taking you to some of the best viewpoints, and telling you about the history behind the monastery's magnificent architecture.
10.00am - After your guided visit, you will have some choices. Follow the guide up to the cross of Saint Michael, visit the basilica, or just soak up the atmopshere. For those of you have chosen to see the Black Madonna (La Moreneta) you will meet again at around 12pm. Take advantage of the free time to to wander around and take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape, climb down to the Holy Grotto, or just relax and try some local delicacies.
1.00pm - You will meet your guide again before heading down from the mountain and into the wine country. The drive takes about an hour, and, before you know it, you will be driving right though the middle of the famous Penedes vineyards.
2.00pm - After a morning in Montserrat, it's time for a delicious farmhouse-style lunch of traditional local dishes. The restaurant is situated right in the middle of the vines, and is well away from the tourist route. You'll eat with locals, and your guide will join you to recommend some dishes.
3.30pm - After an excellent lunch, it's time for the winery visit. We have carefully selected a small family owned winery, famous for their organic approach. You will have a guided visit in the fields among the grapes, an underground tour of their cellars, followed by a tasting of their rose, red, white, and world-famous sparkling 'Cava' wines.
5.30pm - Your day finally comes to an end, and we head back to Barcelona, arriving about 6.30pm - 7.00pm, depending on traffic.
