What you can expect

Spend an evening skimming across snow-dusted Alaskan landscapes beneath the dancing lights of the aurora borealis. This magical night out combines an unforgettable dog sled ride with the chance to see the Northern Lights and enjoy a hearty dinner at a cozy, backcountry yurt.

Get picked up at your hotel in Fairbanks for the ride to the kennel, where you can meet experienced dog mushers and get to know the incredible working animals that once provided the only means of transportation in old-time Alaska. Hop on a sled, pull a blanket around you, and let the team of dogs take off across the snow. As you glide, take in the serenity of the silent trail, illuminated by the stars, the moon, and the reflective glow of the icy snow.

If the aurora starts early, you might get a sneak preview during your ride. Otherwise, the spectacle awaits at your next stop - a warm and homey yurt in a remote, off-the-grid location far from urban light pollution. Enjoy dinner while you gaze out the large north-facing windows, and then watch informative DVDs about the aurora and dog mushing while you wait for the Northern Lights to begin their luminous dance. Once they begin, you can stay inside to take in the view or step out into the open viewing area to absorb the vastness of the cosmos unobstructed.
