Vomit scented bathroom and dirty towels
At the last minute we booked a one night stay at one of our favorite hotels, the Embarcadero. We arrived around 4 and immediately dropped off our bags and enjoyed a beverage on our deck and enjoyed the specular view. We left our room to get dinner and spend time around Newport. When we arrived around midnight and started getting ready for bed our stay take a dramatic turn. Once the bathroom sink started running the unmistakable smell of vomit filled the bathroom and then our room. It was very slow to drain and bits of pink stuff floated out of the drain. Due to the time of the evening we did not call the after hours number (the front desk closes at 11). Instead we let the sink drain and covered the drain and used the kitchen sink instead. After opening doors and windows and using the fan provided in a closet we were able to get the smell out. In the morning we got up and took showers and one of the towels was dirty (or possibly stained.) We have had so many great stays with the Embarcadero. This one was VERY disappointing.

Off season is a really sweet deal.
I was shocked when I first saw the room - I knew I was getting a great price for a really nice place in the off season, but when I turned around on the landing on my way up the stairs, my jaw dropped. Just, wow! :) The bay view and storm watching from the room are amazing, and the restaurant is really great too.

For the convenience of being on the bay it was nice, but but on the other hand not so nice. My wife and I stayed here for the weekend to go crabbing. We was kind of excited when we heard they had a private dock to crab on, but when we went to crab off the dock it was full of abandoned crab nets with no one else around so couldnt even crab there. I later heard that alot of people thought it was free to crab with no license because they are staying at the resort and no one was there to enforce it. About my stay it was nice and clean but the bed was uncomfortable. I think we will look for better accommodation next time in Newport.
