Nice hotel with comfortable room
We had never visited Kansas City and were unsure about locations when making this reservation. At first, we were concerned because the hotel is very close to train tracks but the building proved to be well insulated and noise was not a problem at all. This hotel is connected by a covered walkway to an “Aloft” hotel. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean with the only problem being a bathroom door that didn’t shut fully. There is a “Chicago Pizza” restaurant very close that had excellent food and service. The restaurant is owned by the same folks that own the hotels, so guests showing their room key get a 20% discount off food. Morning breakfast was pretty good with freshly cooked eggs available if desired (thank you Donna- you deserve a raise!) and various fruits, beverages, cereals and breads. Driving into the downtown area takes about twenty minutes. “Jack Stack” is a nice choice for lunch and is walking distance from Union Station and the Mall.

One tired couple among hundreds of cheerleaders
We've stayed at this hotel before and loved it. But last night we were one of only a few rooms occupied by travelers. The rest of the hotel was given over to a cheerleading competition. It was noisy, dirty, distracting. We had to switch rooms (staff was very nice) because it sounded like girls were practicing jumps, cheers and tumbles above our heads. We skipped breakfast; the lobby was mayhem. Why they wouldn't simply take the profit from all those cheerleaders and NOT rent the few remaning rooms, I just don't know.

Hotel is clean and newer in a newly developed area. Staff was awesome, always friendly. Room was clean with new furnishings. The kitchenette was nice. Big shower. Included breakfast was standard items. But hot foods such as eggs and meat were made to order which was nice. Close dining options that we tried were Old Chicago Pizza and Chicken and Pickle. Both had great food and draft beer selections.
