Gamboa Rainforest
Amazing to stay at a resort like this and not a long drive from Panama City. The area is beautiful to explore, I think the tours could be a little more organized and explained in more detail. It was recommended to book as we arrived but fishing was then sold out, so if you have interest in a fishing trip, book ahead or contact the locals directly.

I don't understand the bad reviews. Just stayed there for 3 nights last month, and it was awesome. Zero complaints. Property was great, the staff was perfect, and the breakfast was large and varied. Ok, so the place could use a little touch up here and there with some paint or whatever, but honestly, that's a joke of a complaint that some of the bad reviews say. Again, the hotel is awesome. Stay here with complete confidence. Rooms are spacious, pool was big and clean, and the drinks weren't short on the booze. I'd definitely stay here again without question. If we had the time, we would have stayed longer

Beautiful property and rainforest experience. Make sure to buy the buffet pass because there is only two restaurants (one a bar w snacks and the other buffet). You can book tours inside the resort easily, several tours happen throughout the day so no need to book tours in advance. Bring mosquito spray to protect yourself.

The Gamboa Reserve is beautiful! The rooms are spacious and the views are unparalleled! Housekeeping comes every day and does a fantastic job! There is so much to do in the beautiful rainforest…hiking, zip line, bike park, large pool. We could have stayed for weeks! Check in was easy and friendly. Prices were reasonable. Food was ok. The resort is 20+ years old. They have done a good job maintaining it without doing any major renovations which is perfect! You still get the large rooms and new, comfortable beds without the 5 star prices. I highly recommend!

The most amazing thing about this property was that is located in the middle of a National Park and all the surrounding scenery was spectacular. The rooms have wonderful views of the River and in the morning when you wake up and get out on the balcony you can enjoy your coffee while watching and hearing lovely and colorful birds or even spotting other wildlife (eg agouti, sloths, etc). Another fabulous thin about this hotel where all the extracurricular activities available from the Hotel. The staff from the Tour desk were very helpful to coordinate visits to the trails, or the boat tour or cable car, bird watching hikes, night safari... So really you could spend several days and just enjoy the nature nearby. The only thing that could be improved would be to add a spa/sauna/massage and a gym to completely round up the relaxing experience.

This resort was beautiful and serene. It was very peaceful with lovely views, but the property needs some updating. Our room was clean and staff was pleasant and helpful. The activities available (for a cost) were top notch.

I liked the surrounding area , it was peaceful and serene. The property itself was definitely beautiful at some point but it definitely needs some renovation and improvements. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When it comes to the restaurant I didn’t care for their food I thought it wasn’t tasty and we had cold food , no variety not to mention overpriced. Overall I enjoyed the stay , the view from my balcony was stunning which made up for the food and shabby conditions of the property

Had a great trip, traveled with my son and daughter (12 and 9) We loved all the excursions we were able to book/take right from the lobby. Some areas of the facility need a little TLC/maintenance upgrades, but certainly can't beat the views from the balcony's. SIMPLY BREATHTAKING!

Our stay at Gamboa resort was great! We visited for the nature as we big into birding. The whole area is so beautiful and nature at it's finest. The hotel is almost 25 years old and although it shows its age in the main building, the room we had was very spacious, clean and comfortable. On the first day from our second floor balcony we saw lots of birds, including 4 aracari toucans and 2 killed-billed toucans. The staff at the place was super attentive and friendly, in the restaurant Jonathan was a star for us! Food every day was good and although it's buffet, there were plenty of options for each meal. Overall our stay was amazing. Loved birding in the area and came back home with a whooping 35 new species identified. We will be back soon!
