DUTCH COUNTRY COTTAGE, pet friendly and very secluded!

Welcome to the Dutch Country Cottage. Situated on 9 wooded acres in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, this early 1700's stone farmhouse has been beautifully restored and is nestled in the woods just outside Churchtown, PA. It was once the home of the foreman at the historic Poole Forge, this wonderful cottage is open for use year round.

Two bedrooms upstairs on the second floor, small bedroom is furnished with one queen bed. The large bedroom with two beds, one queen and one full size bed. Both rooms have access to one large bathroom which is complete with an old clawfoot bathtub like grandma used to have .
Cozy up next to the wood stove on a cool evening (firewood provided). Please note the maximum number of guests the cottage can accommodate is six.

This is an ideal romantic get-away for two, a fantastic retreat for four, or a great place for a family visiting Amish country. Set several hundred yards back from the road, you will have a beautiful view of the valley below from the edge of hundreds of acres of woodlands.

Make your own breakfast or order hot sticky buns from a Amish family down the road. Read a book on our wisteria covered patio overlooking a peaceful secluded backyard. Listen to the night sounds while sitting around the campfire.

Enjoy some of Lancaster's best family dining, or prepare a quiet meal in our unique kitchen. Option to Experience a home cooked meal with an Amish couple. Either way you choose, this will be the most relaxing time you can imagine.

Very relaxing and romantic getaway for the weekend
This property and its hosts provided the perfect setting for a romantic getaway weekend. The property is set on bucoulic Valley View Road which offers sweeping views of the countryside. It is surrounded by woods and pastures, and has great views of the sunrise. Pets are allowed and there are short paths through the woods and driveway for walking them. The wood-burning fireplace and cozy living room were a highlight of the stay. The host kindly provided cookies, fresh made bread, and some other food items in advance of our arrival, as well as a recommendation for a nearly family farm that offered delicious hot sticky buns. The location is close to fine dining and spas in Reading, PA. We cannot say enough great things about this property. Thank you

New Year's getaway.
We've been here quute a few times and really enjoy the ambiance. Bringing bird food & filling the feeder twice a day was such a lovely sight to behold every time we looked out the windows. Our dog enjoyed the backyard. The fireplace was our favorite. Felt like half pint from Littl House on the Prairie bring in the wood twice a day while my husband made the fires. The dancing ambers with Christmas music plaing & playiboard games was fun. Thank you Theresa for all you do & Naomi & Davod for the fresh milk, cookies, eggs & butter. Alsways yummy.

The pictures only touch the surface of how amazing this place really is! We stayed three nights and we were sorry to leave. We baked Christmas cookies (the oven cooked perfectly) went shopping, and enjoyed the peacefulness surrounding this beautiful cottage. A lovely house in a secluded spot overlooking the rolling farmland of P.A. Well equipped for indoor and outdoor cooking, a variety of comfortable seating areas around the garden, including a large fire-pit space with wood provided. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The cottage was way better than we had hoped it would be. It was like stepping back in time. The cookies, bread, milk, eggs and jelly left by the host were truly awesome. Surrounded by trees, you really felt the privacy. We will most surely be back to this little slice of heaven.

Like Going Back in Time
This property was actually better than advertised! The cottage and grounds have been beautifully maintained, and there is even a walking trail through the woods which we thoroughly enjoyed. It has many modern conveniences-including wifi, but there is no tv. Trust me, we were happier sitting out back watching nature and traveling the short distances through the countryside to the local farm markets and small towns.We absolutely loved the place!

Peaceful respite + great racetrack access
We visited for a weekend at Maple Grove Raceway, which was just 15 min away (and not the typical traffic direction). The cottage is charming and quiet - we loved making use of the grill and fire pit, enjoying dinner outside with the sounds of crickets, peepers and other woodland friends, with quiet mornings with coffee on the back patio. The home itself is well furnished with convenient amenities, we were very comfortable for our stay. Thank you so much, and we hope to visit again!
