Car Parking isn’t easy.
Was told on answer machine and over the phone by staff to park in selfridges car park. Parked, carried suitcases and bags to the hotel, checked in to be told they wouldn’t recommend parking in that car park as it shut at Midnight. This was at 6:30pm. We checked in, went to our room and walked back to the car. We spent £5.80 getting that car out and then it took us 30mins searching online for another car park and that took 30mins to drive there. By the time we got back it was 9:30pm. This spoilt our experience. It we were told about the car park when called earlier in the day, it wouldn’t had been an issue but spent most of our only night in Birmingham sorting the car out

Modern hotel
Modern hotel at a very convenient location. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is excellent value for money. We only had to change rooms due to a probably defect sensor under the ceiling that caused a constant clicking sound which made it impossible to sleep.

Weekend away
We received a lovely warm welcome at reception. Our room was on the 7th floor with a good view of the bull ring shopping area. Our room was clean and spacious with a really comfortable bed and pillows! The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from New Street train station so is in an ideal location for shopping! The food in the restaurant is lovely and reasonably priced and breakfast is fantastic. I will definitely stay here again.

Well located but let down by some staff
Pleasant enough hotel and good location but service lacking - a lot of reception staff who don’t want to notice there are people waiting. Booking was for two nights but after the first day I received a phone call asking why luggage was still in the room. Eventually the person on the phone realised they were wrong, made some excuse of it being on two bookings (it definitely wasn’t!) and sort of apologised but they really should have checked properly before ringing with their accusations. Room good size and really clean but personally didn’t find bed especially comfortable. Quiet enough though and well located with a nice bar

The Executive King room was good size, however we were three people (2 adults and 1 toddler)and there was only one set of towels so I had to phone reception to request more. Food is one of the worst I had in a long time, think bad pub level but worse. Fish and chips is very greasy and the meat in the burger is worse than Mac Donald’s one. Ketchup for fries (which were ok) was absolutely disgusting, the worst of the worst. Food quality is terrible and the bill certainly doesn’t reflect that. Service at the restaurant is average, someone had to check whether we were waiting for drinks because the order was taken but not brought to the table- by someone else of course. Shame because location is very central but it’s mostly a business hotel so not a very warm feeling. Not cheap (£170 for one night) so we won’t return.

Rooms are stuffy and AC doesn’t work
Awful experience. They centrally turn off the air conditioning in the rooms which means you cannot adjust it. After the first night I complained on three occasions as the room was stuffy. After the third occasion of complaining they said the system was broken and offered to change room at 22.30 at night. Not sure why they couldn’t have offered to do that at 9.30 in the morning when I first complained and at 18.00 when I complained again or at 22.00 after they made me wait another 30 mins to then confirm they couldn’t fix it.

Came at 4pm and one of our room not ready although we had check-in online and keys supposed to be ready at 3pm. The front office said the check in is ‘from’ 3pm and ‘not’ at 3pm. That’s the most stupid excuse I ever heard from such a 4-star hotel! After made a complaint then they reassigned another room immediately. When I entered the room, the towel only prepared for 1 person in both of our rooms and we booked 1 double room and 1 triple room so total for 5 person. No amenities in the room, phone is broken. Not such 4 star quality. Breakfast was fantastic though. That’s the only one we like in this hotel. Everything else are overrated. Staff in front office needs more training for hospitality. They only handed us 1 keycard for every room and that’s it. No explanation or guidance of where to go etc. Not even smiling at us. Won’t be back again.
