Icing on the cake for any Edinburgh visitor!

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. If you are in town for just a few days, it is the perfect location to take in the sights and explore both Old Town and New Town. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast offers a TON of food. This also feels like a great value -- you can stay in an elegant, historic building that is centrally located, and it's still a reasonable price!

The hotel is very old which can be an attractive but in this case it’s not well maintained, everything is falling apart, the elevators didn’t work one night, there was no hot water for one night, it doesn’t have sealed windows so you can hear the wind every night, the rug of the rooms is also old so there are constantly particles of it getting stuck to your feet. Room service non existing, dinner waiting time average 1 hour and breakfast be sure to get before 9 am otherwise you will be there for hours. Overall a terrible experience and additional to this very very expensive and you don’t get half of what you paid for.

Everything was outstanding from the friendly welcome of the concierge and check in to the service at breakfast We also had dinner in the Dean Banks restaurant with the tasting menu and the service and the food was again outstanding. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the room itself whilst not the biggest was perfectly appointed. We would not hesitate to recommend to anyone to stay here.

Rooms very cold; inadequate heating and dated. Staff were excellent in terms of service and breakfast was superb. Pool area was also very good. No turndown service and no housekeeping after 5pm - very odd for a premium 5 star hotel.
