The property itself was.. okay. The area was.. okay. It's Hell's Kitchen. If you're expecting glitz and glamor, this isn't the area. There were highlights. The local bagel shop was amazing though crowded. Still worth the walk even though it was half a mile away. The hotel breakfast? Meh.. it was food.That's about as kind as I can be about it. But SUPER crowded. Actually, the whole place seemed crowded. There was a line at the desk every time I walked by. The big disappointment was finding out when I got there that I was booked for 9 nights when I was leaving in 2. Admittedly, that was my fault for not going through Travelocity more carefully. I will say, Travelocity did a great job trying to get it straightened out but.. since there was a 'no refund' in place from Holiday Inn, it was the most expensive hotel I didn't stay in for a week. That kinda tainted the experience quite a bit but I appreciate Travelocity's efforts very much.

Overall, it is an extremely average hotel. For a weeks stay in a busy area of NYC, it was worth the price. However, there were barely any seating opportunities in the morning for the breakfast for the size of the property. The hotel has 11 floors of guests and maybe 30 seats. You either had to eat in your room on your bed or stand around for 30 minutes to wait for a table. The staff were friendly and courteous, but the housekeeping would not come until 4pm each day and usually during that time, we were back from our days journey getting ready for supper and would not be able to get a thorough clean of the room. There would also be daily room checks, which is fine, but again, it would be around 4-5pm, they would knock once, give you only a few seconds to respond or they would barge in right away. It was strange and often times quite intruding if we were having a lay down or changing our clothing. The heat system in the room was difficult to maneuver, often times pushing out a lot of hot air or a lot of cold air with no option in between. It took a few days to get used to the system, but at one point, we could not adjust the thermostat at all, and an engineer needed to fix it. The lamp on the desk was glitching out on our last day. While this did not effect our trip, it was quite bothersome and we let the staff know to check that cord in case of electrical issues. I do hope your stay is preferred, but I would likely not recommend this hotel to another person or return myself.

Staff were helpful and sorted problems out quickly and efficiently. The hotel’s decor is dated and the carpet in my room was dirty, (I bought sliders from a bargain shop nearby). The worst thing about the hotel is breakfast, nowhere to sit, not enough staff to replenish the food, customers behave like seagulls around a trawler when food comes out. There is no monitoring of who is eligible for breakfast, you could easily walk in off the street and help yourself. The food itself is average but, because other guests hoard food like there is a siege, the selection is poor. The hotel really should work at breakfast as it is its biggest failing

Hotel was clean and well maintained. However, there was NO place to recycle cans or bottles, despite the big push to recycle in NYC. Most importantly, it was JAMMED! I don't know if this is normal summer rush, but every room must have been FULL, so the two tiny elevators took 10 minutes to reach your floor, and the car was usually full. Worst of all, breakfast was good--but a MADHOUSE, with NO free tables, and crowds everywhere, and lots of food items running out over and over again. It took a long time to get the food, find a table, and finish breakfast. And the location is not that close or central to most sights of NYC--way out in Hell's Kitchen, more than a mile from the downtown area, and half a mile to the nearest subway station, so a LOT of walking to get there.... It's cheap by Manhattan standards, and the food was good, but the crowding made it less enjoyable. Maybe it's better in the off-season....

Pros: Great location Clean room and common areas Friendly staff Great neighborhood Cons: Breakfast is way too busy and crowded, was not able to have breakfast in 5 days there. Too many people, too small a space. When there were less that 50 people, there was no food left. Asked two different staff to fix the bathtub which didn't drain properly as well as the TV that was always looking for a signal. They were never fixed during he stay.

Staff was helpful when I requested towels, soap, and someone to come look at a problem in the room. However, I received a call from front desk at 2:30 am asking if I would be checking in … after having checked in already at 4:30 pm the previous evening. Also, there is certainly an ant infestation. We left some snacks on the cupboard where coffee maker is kept, and returns that night to find the interior of the cupboard and garbage pail (where we had placed a couple wrapper) swarming with ants. Having breakfast included in the price was something I was looking for, however, it was not very good and we ended up buying breakfast elsewhere. Otherwise, the beds were fine. Staff, as mentioned, were friendly and helpful. Room was small but we didn’t need more space.
