The cottage is situated on a golf course, and is a five minute walk to the lake. There are day docks to choose from, near the cottage. If you’re hauling coolers to the boat you may want to drive down - but closer to the water. The docks are community docks - first come, first serve. The signage states the docks are intended for daytime use, however it was apparent that people kept their boats on the docks overnight without issue (as far as we know). There is a marina right next door - but this is for members only. They don’t rent boats, not allow use of their docks to guests. At first glance it appears Great Waters is a bit out of town. However, you can be in town in 10 minutes. Publix is about 15 minutes from Great Waters. We rented boats from
Oconnee Wild and Young Harris (10 minutes by car and 15 minutes by boat). Very easy location by boat! Both boat rental agencies were wonderful to work with! The community pool is quiet and was not very crowded. We did not intend to golf during our stay, however, the Great Waters golf course and clubhouse were closed for maintenance, which could affect others. The home is small (as pictured), however we were comfortable as a family of three (with a plus one grandparent for a portion of the stay). Seems the owner is performing some maintenance (painting) and working to stock the home with more necessities, but this didn’t affect our stay. Matt, the owner, was very responsive and a pleasure to work with.
