When we arrived and attempted to check in, the desk staff disappeared for 20 min and then reappeared and informed me that, despite having a reservation, they had no rooms available for us and attempted to send us all the way out to a different hotel in Flushing (45 minutes away!) I protested this and noted that my daughter and I had Broadway tickets in an hour and had no time to take a taxi all the way out to Flushing and back. The attendant disappeared for another 20 minutes and then advised they had magically located a room for us, but it would not be available until after our show. It was clear that the hotel did not hold the reservations for several other guests who were checking in at the same time as us either. Judging from other reviews of this hotel, I’m sure we’ll get some boilerplate response from the hotel management saying they’ll instruct their staff to do better, but it’s pretty obvious this problem originates at the management level. We’ll be avoiding this hotel in the future and encourage Travelocity and its users to be wary of it.

We had a skyline room, which didn’t have all that great of a view, but it was larger than the regular rooms. The services are all very crowded, we were here Friday through Monday morning. And it was hard to talk to staff because of the lines. For example, it took us a hour to check in. Location was good for Central Park and public transportation. No coffee in rooms - a long line to get that too. We prefer smaller hotels.

The location of the property is excellent - close to subway, central park and many main attractions. Our room was very mediocre and the hotel and rooms are in need of a update. Our room was not very clean and the tub drain was not working properly - would take 30 mins for it to drain after a quick shower. Suboptimal from such a large chain and for the prices charged. Mentioned the latter to the front desk on check-out. Did not offer any from of compensation etc.

Con: The mandatory property service fee of 35$/night should be optional or abolished. They charge you 35$ which gives you daily credit that you have to use (or lose) in the convenience store/restaurant on the ground floor called herbs n kitchen. You get hit with a 21$ cold six inch sub, 9$ bag of chips, 10$ water bottles and candy bars. etc. There is also a 25$ laundry perk that comes with it but not many do laundry on vacation or business trip. Pros: Great Location, very clean hotel, courteous staff, big gym, nice room, they gave us a nice gift because of an omission on their end, you make friends on the elevators when you discuss purchases made at herbs n kiychen

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and my daughters birthday. Our stay at the urban suite was awesome. Clean daily. They even gave us welcome gift for the anniversary and my daughter a toy for her birthday. We also received complimentary breakfast at the herb N kitchen restaurant. There was a $80 destination fee but there was a consumable $35 at the her and kitchen store and $25 for laundry. We took advantage of the one for the store for drinks and snacks when we go out. Its walkable to a lot of destinations and trains. Also they have valet parking at the hotel for $95/ 24hrs plus tax. It is our first time in new york and we made the right decision to stay at this hotel
