OMG the cockroaches! I killed two in the room. There were roaming, noisy roosters outside my room, 1970 frayed towels in the bathroom, 3 bottles of hair conditioner (no shampoo) and a smear of blood on the white bed spread! I never saw any staff except for a room attendant who haded me a room card. The Travelocity photos were extremely misleading!!

Beautiful hotel run by a welcoming family
We had a wonderful stay at Hare Rapa Nui by Chez Joseph! We were welcomed on arrival with flower leis and fresh guava juice. The family went out of their way to make us comfortable and to help us with travel arrangements, tours, recommendations, and transportation. Jonathan arranged an unforgettable tour for us of the National Park and helped us navigate travel plans. Breakfast was set up for us every morning and we had full access to a beautiful patio with a view of the ocean from the tables. The hotel grounds are gorgeous with tropical flowers and banana trees, and the rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. I wish we could have stayed longer - we definitely hope to return!

We (a family of four) had great experiences at this hotel. The owners were extremely friendly and treated us with hospitality. The location is also good, walking distance to the beach and some Moai statues.

Great stay near the center of town
The hotel is located conveniently within a block of the main shopping area in Rapa Nui, so it is walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants and other amenities, including tour operators. The hotel is also very reasonably priced, given that it is an actual hotel that boasts private washrooms in each room, provides free wifi (which had good speeds), and includes complimentary breakfast. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. The property is a bit dated, meaning electrical plugs are not well-situated (at least in my room), and the water pressure is a bit low. I gathered these features are not uncommon on Rapa Nui. Be sure to speak to the hosts before closing/locking the front door as there are some nuances about that. Otherwise, it's a great place to stay, and would certainly recommend to those visiting the island.

This was the best experience I have ever had at a hotel, a family run business that makes you feel like a member of the family. The staff went out of their way to include us in events and give us personalized tours and very reasonable prices. Mike and Jonathan both were fantastic people to have around. They both spoke English for us because they knew I couldn’t understand Spanish. If you are going to Rapa Nui you need to book here. Felt like I left the island with new friends and a second home.

Owners/Staff are first rate.
This is an island where you won’t find big name hotel chains. Most inns are family operations. We were a bit surprised at the rustic accommodations but after settling in, it became home. We had some pretty good rain storms at night but no leaks. No a/c but our room had a ceiling fan as well as a floor fan, which we never needed. The family that owns it were very friendly often saying “welcome to the island”. I dealt with Erika, Jonathon, and Mike. Their English was better than our Spanish but we got along.

시내 한복판에 있어서 어디든 걸어가기 좋았고 공항 픽드랍도 해주셨습니다. 가족이 운영하는 호텔인데 스페인어 뿐만 아니라 영어, 프랑스어 등을 모두 잘하는 이모님이 계셨고 조금 낡았지만 깨끗하게 관리 잘되어 있었습니다. 계속 업그레이드 중이라 제가 있을때 문고리를 열쇠에서 키카드로 공사했고 에어컨도 설치할꺼라 합니다. 사실 에어컨 없이도 창문에 모기장 있어서 살짝 열고 실링팬 돌리면 충분히 시원했습니다.

The proprietors, Tito and Rosa, were absolutely incredible. They went out of their way to make sure that I was well taken care of. My room was spotless, breakfast was always good. This property isn’t fancy but I felt comfortable. It is walking distance to the harbor, Ahu Tahai Moai with its lovely sunsets, a small beach and many restaurants. I would definitely stay there again if I ever visited the island again.

Amazing stay, which made me feel at home. Everyone at the hotel has been so kind and helpful. The hotel is quiet, extremely well located (in the center but in a quiet street), and clean. I stayed for a while and was upgraded to a bigger room when it was unoccupied. It's a perfect place to stay on the island!

I turned 50 while here. They welcomed me like family and even gave me a birthday celebration with their friends and family. I could not have felt more blessed to be with amazing hosts. This is the spirit of the hotel and island. I would stay here every time.

Property in Bad Shape for Price / Owner is Rude
1- I went at the beginning of Jan (the summer) when it gets really hot in the city. Note that this property has no AC. 2- I stepped on two roaches during the night while walking to the bathroom. 3- Property full of chickens... lots of noise...compounds the roaches problem. 4- Property need serious maintenance; doors are hard to open and some are falling apart. Left after first night and owner wanted to force me to complete my stay or fully pay for it... even with all these issues. I was lucky I chose the option of "Pay at Hotel"; otherwise, owner wasn't going to refund for the nights I left. Her staff, on the contrary, was outstanding... they worked around the clock to improve the situation even when there wasn't much they could do. This hotel would be worth it on the less than $100 price range as the island lodging is expensive... super overpriced for the accommodations offered based on other hotels I went to see so I could switch. Moved to Hotel Ohana Rapa Nui for a few dollars more and had an amazing time (high end by island standards: beautiful/AC/no roaches/outstanding staff... wow, what a difference).

Joseph and his wife are lovely. He picked me up at the airport with a beautiful lei. The motel is small and on a residential street a few blocks from Downtown. The room is bare and minimalist. Bed, small fridge on stand. No phone. No decor. Bathroom is large but run down. Hair dryer plug didn’t fit in outlet so couldn’t use. No hot water for shower. Outlets didn’t work to charge phone. Joseph didn’t answer his doorbell. Breakfast was good. Lots of cats, dogs, chickens, wild horses walk down the street.
