Rest up on your flight into Great Falls International Airport (GFT), because you’re going to need that energy for the area’s famed hiking trails. From an easy stroll in Lewis and Clark National Forest to a difficult trek up Mt. Wright in the Bob Marshall area, you better make sure to pack comfortable boots!
Transportation From GFT
Incoming Great Falls flights provide expansive views of the Great Plains below, which give rise to the majesty of the Montana Rockies to the west. Once you have deplaned, it is time to secure your transportation. If you booked a rental car, be sure to check in advance with your provider. Some companies keep the cars on-site at the airport, while others require you to take a shuttle to your vehicle. The terminal exits are located adjacent to the baggage claim area, making the final leg of your arrival more convenient. You can hail a taxicab right at curbside. Bus and shuttle service is fantastic at GFT; you can select from local, state, regional, and even national carriers, depending on your ultimate destination. In this sparsely populated area, many attractions are spread out, and, you might even use Amtrak as a part of your transportation package. If so, hop on a shuttle bus to nearby Shelby or Havre to connect with the train. If you are staying at one of the hotels close to GFT, your best bet is the hotel shuttle or a cab.
