How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Dublin
If you like the idea of spending more time at the airport cafes and less time navigating your way through security on your way to Dublin, just follow these helpful tips:

  • Ensure your boarding pass and travel ID are not difficult to reach. You will be asked to present them straightaway.
  • Belts, wallets and keys should be put in a bin for X-raying. If you enter the body scanner with any of these items, you’ll be turned around and requested to remove them.
  • Make sure your laptop, phone and other electronic devices are easily accessible. These items need to be put through the X-ray machine in separate bins.
  • Lip balm, toothpaste and other toiletry items in gel, liquid or cream form need to be stored in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). They also need to fit in a 1-quart (1-liter) clear zip-lock plastic bag.
  • Consider your choice of footwear. Slippers are awesome because they’re a cinch to slip out of for the airport security checks. Try wearing a pair on your next journey!
  • The list of non-permissible items is forever changing. Check with your airline’s website to learn about what is not allowed on board their flights.

Flights To Dublin

As the saying goes, “Anything worth doing is worth doing in Dublin.” Alright, we’ll admit that isn’t quite how the saying goes, but it is certainly true. Whether you enjoy the revelry of the crowd at sporting events or the serene quiet of historical buildings and museums, you will enjoy it tenfold in venerable Dublin. This is a city for everyone: soccer fans, history enthusiasts, culture lovers, and even kids, with its zoos, interactive museum exhibits, and more. Plus, this capital city is famously friendly, so you are sure to meet a local acquaintance or two along the way.

There is a real saying in Ireland that goes “May the roads rise to meet you/May the wind be at your back,” and that is one that your upcoming vacation is sure to fulfill. With the perfect itinerary planned, the roads will rise to meet you, and with flights to Dublin, Ireland from Travelocity, the westerly wind will be at your back, as well.

Transportation from DUB

Once flights to Dublin land, passengers are about 8 miles from the city centre. If you need to take a rest, you have many hotels to choose from in the immediate vicinity of the airport, and many of them will offer shuttle service to and from the airport terminals. Dublin’s extensive bus system offers plenty of options to get you to hotels just about anywhere in the city, and taxis are always available as well. If you’re planning on journeying into that famous, rolling green Irish countryside, just make your way to the car rentals counter in the Arrivals Hall. Once you've checked into your hotel, set down your bags. It's time to head out to enjoy Dublin!

Things to Do Near DUB

Just can’t wait to get in on the history, beauty, and incredible experiences that await? Or, perhaps, you simply don’t have much time. No matter—even those with airfare to Dublin for business reasons or who simply have a long layover in the city can enjoy some amazing attractions.

  • Malahide Castle & Gardens is just 5 miles northwest of the airport, meaning it’s easy to reach by taxi at any time of day. Yes, you can tour a spectacular castle—even if your tickets to Dublin only keep you here for a short time.
  • If you don’t mind spending a few more euros, seeing the sights of the city centre is also achievable in a quick trip. The Airlink and Aircoach express buses run up to every 15 minutes, and will have you downtown in no time.

  • The Westin Dublin is just steps from the historic Ha’penny Bridge and the Molly Malone statue, two must-have additions to your holiday scrapbook. And with an on-site restaurant and 24-hour room service at this 4-star hotel, you’ll always have plenty of options for refueling after all that exploring.
