When I travel for business, I find i very inconveniencing when hotels take $100 deposits. Now, this place is not the Hyatt and is really just a nice little 3 star in a good location with tolerable, probably more than adequate eating in the area. And even the Hyatt has no excuse for taking $100 deposits, and they take it for each night! If you take a deposit, like was done here of $100 for the two night stay at George Williams, then please reverse it as soon as someone leaves and you know they left everything in good order. If I do a lot of travelling, hotels like yours, stuff up my cashflows. Not all employers pay for people to travel upfront. I work for myself so it is all me. It was a nice little hotel with small rooms that were reasonably comfortable but I think I will stay at Mercure round the corner more if I have an option. It is much nicer, only a little more expensive during the week, and they just take $1 holds on your credit card. Since I don't walk out with half of the furniture, towels and crap when I leave, and most people don't, there can be no justification for taking $100 deposits even for one night and not reversing them straight away once someone leaves. You impact the organisations around you too because in a high cost of living environment, all I can afford are bananas, sandwiches and basic stuff from Coles, no eating out, no ferry cruises, etc while there. So please get rid of this deposit idea and holding on to them well after someone leaves.
