Overpriced and shabby
We found the shower drain clogged and found ourselves cleaning dirty hair out of the drain the first night. We would have overlooked the shabiness of the furniture and bare bones and moved on, but the duvets were ripped when we arrived, and the owner charged us more than they paid for the duvets initially. It was overall a really disappointing experience. VRBO did not respond when I tried to open a support ticket. The lack of communication and $100 charge for damage we definately did not create was the low point in the vacation.

While we did enjoy our time we did feel the need to give folks a bit of a heads up. Gorgeous property and great for quiet stay. The advertisement oils use an update. The pictures make the place look newer than things are, which is ok but finding loose screws and rusty nails in the fenced in area meant for dogs was a bit odd. The main thing I wish the owners would’ve communicated and maybe I missed this was that it is not as isolated and serene as advertised. We were hoping to be very alone due to a new puppy in training and a birthday hoping to celebrate quietly in the woods. There were quite a few (3 ) other cabins above this one making it a busy area for cars in and out and oddly a lot of full families were walking by all day and night making it less serene and private. The main kicker was the hot tub man who walked up out of no where mid day with our 80 pound puppy laying freely and was not friendly nor did the owner let us know, luckily our dog did not do anything but bark however the day went a little left as far as relaxing. Soooo, maybe look into a different more private digs. This was nice but I think there are more private spots. Thank you.

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful
A bit out of the way but the views, the drive and the peaceful environment made it worth it. If you need quick access to Carmel, Monterey etc it could be too far BUT if you have the time for a nice drive each way it’s totally worth it. Host was very helpful and responsive. Charming place I hope to return to.

Not what expected
Unfortunately, the home was way off the beaten path and did not realize how far it was out until we were able to get the address and directions from the property manager a few days before our trip. It took us 45 to 60 minutes to get out to the main area and be able to go to all of the parks and beach that we wanted to. Very windy road up the mountain and then the property is in the trees, so there are no views from the property to enjoy the valley. On arrival, the floors were filthy and were told that they are vacuumed and mopped before each new guest so they were going to change the mopheads. Just wasn’t as comfortable or in a location convenient to our needs.

Secluded Getaway Cabin
It's a pleasant cabin off a backroad in Carmel Valley. The place was clean and tidy. The cabin is a good size for a small family with 1 or 2 kids. The hot tub is big enough for 2 adults and a kid or two. The single bathroom is outside both bedrooms so it can be accessed by anyone. They also area where you can play cornhole. You can turn on the lights at night and it makes the place even more charming. We came as a couple with our service dog. We were glad we didn't invite any other friends to come along even if there were two bedrooms as the place is very intimate and all the spaces are a pretty compact size. It's pretty secluded so it's best to have everything you need before you get up there. The town is 20 minutes away. Some people in the reviews mentioned that the road going up there is pretty sketchy. I agree at night it might be an issue, so I would advise coming in and out before sunset, especially if it's your first time there. My only advice to the property manager is to adjust their check-in and out times. 4PM is pretty late, especially for something that is readily available to be occupied. Also, 10AM is pretty early. I think a 3PM check-in and 11AM check-out time is more industry standard.

Awesome private hidden gem
This was the perfect hideaway for our romantic weekend away from home. The amenities were great, place was clean and comfortable. Directions were accurate and useful. Fair warning, coming out of the driveway is a bit of a challenge, especially if you're not used to mountain driving or limited forward visibility over the hood.

Oak grove house
We loved our stay in this house in the middle of the oaks. It had all we needed for a quiet stay in nature. Well equipped and with some extras like coffee and olive oil which were very appreciated. Jacuzzi out in the patio under the oaks is beautiful and the lights at night make it very enchanting.

Take Tassajara
The actual property was fine, but be aware there are ticks. One got on my dog and another on my son within 10 min of arrival. My main issue was Cachagua Rd being listed as the primary way to reach the property. It is extremely narrow with no guard rails, has mile after mile of hairpin turns, sections tarped off the side for erosion, passes an expanse of landscape charred by a wildfire, drops down to one lane a few times with little warning, tons of locals driving like crazy, and terrifying drop all the way. My husband was trained to drive by his UPS long haul trucker dad and he was shaken. The idea that someone could arrive in the dark or have anything bigger than a compact is really scary. Tassajara is also windy, but much safer. We saw a lot of wildlife on that road (turkeys, deer, woodpeckers, vultures).

Mountain Top Getaway
This was one of the most relaxing getaways we have ever had with VRBO. The cottage was wonderful with plenty of outdoor space to simple sit, read, knit, play cards and cornhole game. The only downside for us was the drive up to a d from our hide away. My advise to anyone interested in this video away, make certain the driver does not have an issue with fear of heights, they will never make it driving the mountain road.

Quiet secluded location
We stayed with our dog here for about a week. The location is very quiet and peaceful, far from other properties. We had a great time. The description in the listing was accurate, but a few things to note: - the VRBO map location is accurate, but Google Maps' location is inaccurate by about 3 miles. The host let us know this before arriving. - the road to the property is narrow with many twists and blind turns. I wouldn't recommend driving after dark. - there aren't any trails within walking distance. We did some hikes at Garland Ranch Regional Park, and of course, Monterey & Carmel are just a bit further. - the WiFi (there's no cell service) is a bit weak, but more than enough for basic web browsing - the kitchen (and the rest of the house) was clean, although some of the dishes needed another rinse. - the heating system easily heated the house in December, although it was a bit creaky at times.

Quiet, colorful, Nice views, need cleaning.
The house in itself is nice, its all green around the house. Since there is no phone service, the only option is to use the house wifi but the wifi get disconnected after every 5-10 minutes and not a regular speed wifi you are looking for, as long as you don't want to use your phone then please minus the wifi review. The house needs deep cleaning on the walls and ceiling since you can see spider webs in all the rooms. All the appliances in the house work great and are clean. Its a great house for 4-5 people. Overall we all are happy that we visited this place. Will come back in future. Thank you Daniel.

Tranquil and secluded
Our stay overall was secluded and tranquil. No view of yard, gardens or surrounding mountains. Although , to be fair none was stated or pictured in the listing. A heads up on the treacherousness of the road to the property would have been appreciated. Dodging oncoming traffic on the single lane road was frightening.
