We stayed in room 201 not one of their better rooms. The room was dated and the shower didn’t work! However the staff were very helpful they let us use the bathroom in the room next door and that shower was perfect and the room was of a much higher standard .We thoroughly enjoyed the Ember restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Both meals were excellent and staff and service vas fantastic… made up the room . We are keen to try again 😊

The location is quite good and the staff is, in general, polite, responsive and as helpful as they can be within the limits of their authority. HOWEVER, it is a hotel and the bed in my room [I stayed in 4 different rooms over the course of two separate visits - 1004, 524, 746 and 1242] was deplorable. That is, it was WAY too soft and without sufficient support. So much so that I actually slept on the floor the two nights of my second stay. And with THAT in mind, and being told by reception that the beds in all rooms are the same, I don't see how the Grand Millenium is worthy of a four star plus rating. My hotel in Wellington [in between the two stays in Auckland] had a much more comfortable bed and that hotel is no where near as highly rated.

The staff was unfailingly helpful, to the extent they were able. However, I was first checked in to room 746 but when I opened the door I discovered the room was missing a desk, a chair for the desk, a carpet and a built-in to put your suitcase one [all items which were in rooms 1004 and 524 where I stayed a week earlier]. When I went to reception to report this they "upgraded" me to room 1242. Sadly, although was, ostensibly an upgrade and it WAS on the 12th floor and WAS a little bit larger than 1004, 524 or 746, the room was ridiculously "defective" in that the TV had fewer channels than 524 or 1004 [never checked 746], the bathroom, which was very clean and very spacious had these little individual containers of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel compared with in shower pump dispensers in the other rooms, the room did NOT have a temperature control which WAS in the other rooms. I noted this on check-out to the concierge and they agreed but were in no position to do anything except report this. By far the worst was a ridiculously soft bed. So soft I actually slept on the floor! That was rather than take a chance of hurting my back. Given these experiences the hotel, IMNSHO, does NOT deserve a 4 star plus rating.

The amenities were very good, especially the pool, gym and lounge areas. We liked the view of the city from our room as well as the spacious bedroom and bathroom. Staff were kind and friendly. However, the furniture items were rather tired. The bed was not very comfortable and the chipwood desk had seen better days. The wardrobe was inadequate as well. The rather high top shelf above the hanging rail did not offer convenient storage. The cupboard was wide enough to include a vertical set of shelves. I did not enjoy living out of my overnight bag. There was also some muck attached to the filter in the kettle. But, not withstanding the negative points mentioned here, our stay was pleasant and we would consider a future stay at the Grand Millenium. And last but not least, we appreciated being located a room across from the atrium, rather than down a dimly lit passage.

I sent an email on Monday 30 Sept advising that I erroneously booked accommodation at Grand Millennium Auckland for 6 Oct (default date on booking form) advising that I actually wanted to book 2 nights accomm at Grand Millenium Auckland on 30 & 31 Oct 2024. I was subsequently billed for that, along with a re-booking fee, so I drew the conclusion that this had all been sorted. I then contacted the hotel directly to confirm, and they said, because the booking was made through Expedia, I would have to notify you. I then tried to advise Expedia and only got the AI chatbot, where I advised of the error and asked for confirmation of the change being processed. Not reply, so I assumed all went through. The next thing I receive from Expedia is this 'check-in survey'. Soi please fix ASAP, so my accomm is fixed and I'm not double-charged.
