Great location with short drive to Great Sand Dunes. Great view! Very quiet. Comfortable room. Easy to rent sand sleds for a day in the park. We drove 25 minutes to Alamosa for dinner.

Like so many others, we booked this for the proximity to the park. The beds were hard and the bathroom had a lot of flying bugs including mosquitoes. The view from the patio was amazing and I loved the hummingbird feeders. The restaurant close by was ok. About what you would expect. You just have to plan around the hours. We did take advantage of the location and drove into the park after the MOON had set. Since it’s a dark sky location we could see stars from horizon to horizon and the Milky Way. That alone made the price and inconvenience worth it. I wouldn’t want to stay more than 1 night though.

Only option next to Sand Dunes. Place is old, rustic but needs some cleaning - bugs stuck on towels etc. Breakfast is included but is very limited. Area is amazing, staff is helpful.

Great views of the Great Sand Dunes National park! My first time experiencing a Camper and I really liked it! The Oasis restaurant had great Navajo tacos and IPA!

It was very convenient to the national park even though we really didn’t have much to do. We were not into sledding down the hills. We took pictures and stargazed a bit though, but not sure it was worth $280. There is a restaurant down the hill close by and Continental breakfast. You could even get a pizza and bake it in their oven.

LOCATION is the reason to choose this lodging! You have your own view of the dunes! Its so easy to wake up and get into the park without driving miles! The bed was comfortable, breakfast was sufficient, and the staff were very pleasant! It is a complex with small restaurant, store, and a campground.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and has a great view of the Dunes. The access road could have used some grading to remove the deeper pot holes.

After paying close to $500 for 2 rooms for one night, when we returned the sand sleds, the staff would not let my child use the restroom.

Great location for GSDNP!
Amazing location and clean rooms! A bit tight in 1 room for 4 ppl, but if you’re only there for 1-2 nights it’s worth the squeeze for the location. Breakfast was helpful but not many options, so if you’re particular bring your own food. One call out is that in a standard two queen room one bed is smashed up against the wall AC unit. We left it off bc it was cool so wasn’t an issue, but if hot I would imagine someone wouldn’t sleep well having the unit blowing in your face the whole night.

As I write this, I am sitting on my private patio watching the sun set on the dunes. Our room is big and very comfortable, with every amenity we could ask for. I'd give this lodge 3 thumbs up if I had that many!

On our national park road trip, we’ve stayed in 5 properties in 5 days. This was THE most expensive of all 5. No idea why - unless you count the hundreds of drain flies in the bathroom as a perk. We complained to the front desk and her response was “I’m from the south. We have bugs everywhere.”

I rented a camper by mistake but did not regret my stay there. It was sandy all around in the camper from the dunes and could have been cleaned better. I loved the overall experience, location of the hotel and the view of sand dunes from the hotel.

Check in staff was too young, impolite and gave us wrong room key. Bath area was wonderful, great products and space. PLEASE get WD 40f or ALL the doors...ridiculous at night and early am to hear all that noise. The room next to us was vacant and unfortunately the outside light was on by the patio...really ruin ed our night time with the stars. we drove to the park. Please do something about all the electrical cords. Looked dangerous. Breakfast was lame. The room was comfortable great view. This was not worth the money regardless it is the only place to stay this close to the park. The restaurant ( not affiliated with the hotel) was sub par. The wait staff could care less about you.
