Loved our four nights at Hotel San Carlos! Room was comfortable, convenient to downtown historical sights and many breakfast choices. Desk clerk was so welcoming and made our stay better! Our leftover vets were stored since room didn’t have a refrigerator cut that worked fine. Drawback was parking garage a few blocks away.

Old Worn Out Place
I thought this old hotel would have a lot of character. That it does. The rating is way off though. Negatives: No temperature control in the rooms, just a ceiling fan; shower scolds EVERY time someone else in the building does anything with the water; advertised roof top pool was "closed for renovations for over 3 years" said with a chuckle as the are not fixing it (this was one of the reason this hotel was chose); no in room coffee maker, alarm clock, fridge (though there was a cabinet designed to hold it); walls are paper thin, you hear everything; many rooms had vents directly to the hallway I could hear conversions from the other end of the hall in normal voices; scratchy sheets and very firm mattress. Pros: Location was walking distance from the convention center; the old vibe does have charter; good Mexican restaurant in front. In general all of the other 3+ star hotels in the area were priced less and would have been a much better choice (they were already booked). I was embarrassed booking my team at this location for the conference.

The hotel was priced pretty high for a small antiquated room with grandma's furniture. For the price and size of the room and amenities onsite, I would look at other options. Hotel appears to have been built in 1928. Things were not in good repair in the small room. Again, if you like vintage and look over things while you are paying the same price as neighboring hotels (no real option close by that had rooms), this might be interesting to you.

Phoenix vacation mistake
Old style hotel no on street parking have to park in garage and a lot of street noise no real AC just a ceiling fan and only local channels on the TV no cable channels. The location is in walking distance to various restaurants for me I would not stay again it is a little expensive too for what you get
