Lovely hotel with great character so felt special rather than just a box like many other hotels. Great breakfast and service. Would have really liked a coffee pod machine (but coffee bags were provided which were pretty good). Traveled by train and easy walk from station and to the city centre so great location. Would definitely stay there again.

Giving an average score is very difficult as the hotel is beautiful, spotlessly clean and my go to place when visiting family however this last trip was a bit off. Arriving gone 11pm and still having a couple of hours work to do I enquired about an upgrade due to my hotels.com membership. Was rather abruptly shut down with ‘only when available’. Ok no problem then mentioned that I just needed at desk as I had work to do still tonight. Received a standard room - even thought there were superior rooms and others (I was not expecting a gold plated penthouse) available online just didn’t care to allocate one upon request and as is advertised. The real kick was that the allocated room had a desk - in an alcove in the entrance corridor no where near the TV (to use as a second screen). A coffee table could be moved in the bedroom just about but there were no plugs in that area unfortunately what I had to do took twice as long to complete. I did get a few hours quality sleep as the bed was fantastic but can’t comment on breakfast as I over slept.
